New England tied their best victory streak from the Brady period as they beat division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the team in 2019

Signal-caller Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws

The triumph bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after dropping to two wins and eight losses

The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with QB Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the New York's opening drive

But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third period to extend the lead to 21-7

"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."

Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales kicked a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the triumph
