FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years since relocating so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
